Carers Leeds – Catch Up, Coffee & Cake 24th Nov, 10.30am

Carers Leeds is an independent charity that gives support, advice and information to unpaid carers over 18. Established in 1996, their team of expert support workers is dedicated to improving the lives of the 72,000 carers in Leeds.

Over the last five months, Carers Leeds has been working in the outer areas of Leeds on a quest to find carers who have not yet identified themselves as as carers, and they have achieved the following:

  • Development of “Carer Clinics” within four GP practices
  • Increased benefits advise for carers
  • “Carer Training” for existing community groups
  • Created “Catch Up, Coffee and Cake” – coffee mornings aimed at bringing people together
  • Volunteer development

Carers Leeds will be holding a “Catch Up, Coffee and Cake” morning at Aberford Village Hall on Thursday 24th Nov from 10.30am – 12.00pm. All donations received through the sale of cakes and drinks will be donated to Children In Need, and donations received from future events will be used to fund more activities. It is hoped the event will become a monthly occurrence, and the small team of volunteers located in Aberford is looking forward to welcoming everyone who is able to attend.
