St Gemma’s Hospice – Light Up A Life Appeal

This year, the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity is St Gemma’s Hospice, and they are running a Light Up A Life Appeal this Christmas. Please see the comment below from a St Gemma’s representative:

“Christmas is a special time, but it can also be difficult as we remember loved ones who are no longer with us. St Gemma’s Light up a Life is a chance to remember those people together. Anyone can take part, whether you have a connection with the Hospice or not. Simply donate and then a light on one of their festive trees will shine in honour of your loved one.  You’ll also be invited to a beautiful candlelit ceremony where the thousands of lights will be switched on, each representing a life. Visit www.st-gemma.co.uk/lightupalife or call 0113 218 5555.”

The lights will shine throughout the festive season from 2nd December until 5th January.

Two candlelit remembrance ceremonies will take place:

Hospice Light up a Life Ceremony
Sunday 2nd December, 4:00pm

This will be in the Hospice grounds, where the thousands of lights will be switched on.

Immaculate Heart Church Ceremony
Wednesday 12th December, 6:30pm

This second ceremony will take place indoors at Immaculate Heart Church on Harrogate Road.

During each ceremony there will be carols, readings and a time to reflect before the lights on the festive trees are switched on. Full details of the ceremonies will be sent out to you.
