Please see the message from Cllr Matthew Robinson below regarding recent speed checks performed by the Police in Aberford:
Some speed checks have recently been conducted by the Police with one motorist going in excess of 30mph and driving without insurance. We are working with the Parish Council to target efforts and help improve road safety. However given the number of complaints we receive about speeding in Aberford it’s worth noting that motorists were warning each other that Police vehicles were conducting checks, and while it’s welcome that this reduced the speed of many motorists at that time, it also reduced the numbers the Police stopped and makes the statistics for the village look better than residents tell us it is. We are looking to work with the Police to deploy some unmarked vehicles were possible and continue to be mindful of road safety in Aberford.
