Throughout the Summer every ward in Leeds is celebrating culture and we are inviting community groups and creatives to take part! Over the summer there will be events taking place in parks, village halls, high streets and shopping centres. The events will shine a light on the creativity found on our doorsteps and Leeds’ amazing communities. The Harewood Ward host Becky Smith is working to organise a day of celebration on Sunday 9th July which will bring local people together to enjoy a picnic and the cultural richness of our area.

Becky has asked that we publicise the opportunity to apply for community groups and/or local artists, performers and creative-types to obtain a small grant to take part in the events or contribute in other ways.

Details of the community grants available (DEADLINE: 6th March at 9am) can be found here (select ‘Harewood’ for more info on our ward specifically):

Applications can be made online or by video/audio, and by calling the LEEDS 2023 helpline on 0113 834 3058.

Get involved in other ways

Becky is really keen to hear from people who want to get involved in the events in the Harewood ward on 9th July even if applying for a community grant is not right for them. This might be to perform, demonstrate a creative skill, have a stall showcasing their club or volunteer support before or on the day. Here is an Expression of Interest Form or email Leeds 2023 Year of Culture, more generally, is seeking volunteers for all sorts of cultural activities and events throughout this year. Apply here for those roles and quote ‘HAR23’ to fast-track the application.
