QUEENS PLATINUM JUBILEE

Do you know about the Let’s Create Jubilee Fund???

This is open to voluntary and community groups across the country to develop creative and cultural activities as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. The fund has been created by Arts Council England (ACE) with funds from the National Lottery. The fund is open to voluntary and community organisations with charitable aims and working towards a common goal which does not have to be based solely around arts and culture. This could include youth groups, parent/carer groups and volunteer organisations.

What a fantastic opportunity for community groups to get their thinking caps on and do something fun and exciting in our wonderful village.

Although it is not essential for community groups to link with an arts organisation to gain this funding, applicants are being strongly encouraged to work with an artist, creative or cultural organisation. This is a great opportunity to work with different organisations to bring your idea to fruition for the event working with people in the community.

The Lets create jubilee fund are liaising with local groups and contacting arts organisations to encourage them to collaborate

The Let’s Create Jubilee Fund application is now open and you can find out more information here: Let’s Create Jubilee Fund | Leeds Community Foundation (leedscf.org.uk) The deadline for the fund is Monday 28 February and the applicant needs to be a voluntary or community group.

As well as supporting groups to apply we are also looking at other ways Leeds City Council can enable you to deliver the events over the Diamond Jubilee weekend, this will include promoting your events on our social media and you can list your event on the Leeds Inspired website

Vacancies on the Parish Council

The Parish Council has a number of vacancies and Councillors would like to co-opt suitable candidates onto the council.

Local knowledge would be helpful, along with an interest in the work the parish council does and specifically to work in conjunction with Leeds City Council to maintain the network of public footpaths, Public Rights of way, Drovers verges and Parish Council infrastructure and equipment in good order.

Previous council experience is not necessary, just a desire to make a difference and help make the parish a better place to live.  Most formal council business is conducted via a monthly meeting held on the third Tuesday of each month so the ability to attend this meeting on a regular basis is essential.

If you are interested and wish to apply, or would like more information, please contact the Clerk by email on clerk@aberford-pc.gov.uk. The closing date for completed applications is Friday 4th March.

NOTICE OF PARISH COUNCIL ELECTION

No valid nomination papers were received in respect of the vacancy arising from the resignation of Councillor Hogg. Consequently the process has to be repeated, any nomination papers must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 4pm on Friday 25th February 2022, full details are shown in the Notice of Election which can be found here.

If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 24th March 2022. The full election timetable can be found here.

Please note that the election is being administered by Leeds City Council, to whom any queries should be addressed.

FUEL COST AND MONEY/DEBT ADVICE

Given the coverage in the media about fuel price increases and other cost inflation, Leeds City Council thought it would helpful to provide some additional information about available advice.

The council are doing what they can to help people and ensure where possible people are able to access the advice and support they need. Two documents are attached which will hopefully be helpful, the first is a list of services and organisations in the city which are able to assist people specifically with fuel and energy issues, this can be viewed here. Secondly is a flyer which details where to go for help and advice on money and debt issues, this can be found here.   Copies of these documents will be displayed in the Parish Council noticeboard at Pump Hill.

Further information and advice can be found here.
